Getting started
No. ReMarkSync runs on your computer and works with notes synced there by the official reMarkable desktop app. Nothing is installed on your tablet, and ReMarkSync does not use SSH or root access. After a reMarkable software update, there is nothing on the tablet to reinstall.
Install ReMarkSync on your computer and follow the setup guide. It finds the notes already synced to your computer by the official reMarkable desktop app. You then connect your Microsoft account and choose what to sync to OneNote. After verifying your email, you can start the 7-day free trial whenever you are ready. Setup usually takes about three minutes.
ReMarkSync works with the official reMarkable desktop app, which keeps a copy of your notes on your computer. reMarkable doesn’t currently offer an official way for other apps to read your notes from its cloud. Some tools connect to the reMarkable cloud directly in unofficial ways, but reMarkable’s account terms only allow its own apps, or apps it has approved, to connect, and reMarkable can close an account that breaks this rule. ReMarkSync never connects to the reMarkable cloud directly, so it never needs access to your reMarkable account.
Yes. ReMarkSync supports personal Microsoft accounts and Microsoft 365 work or school accounts that have access to OneNote. Connect the account that owns or can access the OneNote notebook you want to use. Some work or school notebooks require a one-time “Allow OneNote access” step. Your organization may require administrator approval or block that permission; ReMarkSync will explain the next step but cannot override your organization’s policy.
The official reMarkable desktop app and ReMarkSync must both be running. They can stay in the background, and OneNote does not need to be open.
Yes. ReMarkSync is available as a signed and notarized macOS download and through the Microsoft Store for Windows.
No. reMarkable tablets have no app store, so OneNote cannot run on the tablet. You write on your reMarkable, and ReMarkSync brings those notes into OneNote on your computer, with handwriting as real OneNote ink.
reMarkable can export a PDF of a notebook to OneDrive when you tap Export, and it can open PDFs from OneDrive. It does not keep that copy up to date. ReMarkSync works differently: it keeps the notebooks you choose up to date in OneNote and does not need the OneDrive link.
ReMarkSync works with reMarkable 2, reMarkable Paper Pro, Paper Pro Move and Paper Pure, as long as your notes appear in the official reMarkable desktop app on your Windows PC or Mac. Custom colors from the Paper Pro keep their exact color in OneNote.
Sync & fidelity
ReMarkSync syncs handwriting, typed notes, headings, bulleted and numbered lists, to-dos, highlights, colors, images, and annotated PDFs. Typed content remains editable and searchable in OneNote. If a page exceeds the size limit in OneNote, ReMarkSync splits it automatically so the content can still sync.
During ordinary sync, supported handwriting arrives as real OneNote ink. Pen styles such as ballpoint, fineliner, pencil, and marker keep their appearance and supported colors, including custom colors from reMarkable Paper Pro. If you choose an eligible PDF recovery copy, its handwriting remains visible but is flattened rather than editable ink.
During ordinary sync, PDF pages arrive with handwriting and highlights layered over the document. From v0.6.1, every page size keeps that alignment. If an eligible recovery needs a PDF recovery copy, that copy is flattened for readability: the marks remain visible but are not editable OneNote ink.
Any size works from ReMarkSync v0.6.1. A4, US Letter, A5, landscape pages and 16:9 slides all keep your handwriting and highlights in place on the original PDF page. On older versions, use A4 pages for the best alignment.
Yes. You can select individual pages, PDFs, notebooks, folders, or your entire library. Unselected content stays out of OneNote unless you select it or an enabled Auto rule includes an eligible new item. You control future inclusion and can keep exceptions.
In v0.4.0, selecting a notebook in Library also includes its future pages. To include future notebooks, turn automatic inclusion On in a folder’s More menu, including its subfolders, or for All notes. Existing unchecked items stay unchecked, PDFs remain manual, and upgrading never enables Auto for you. Keep your computer, ReMarkSync, and reMarkable Desktop running so new content can arrive and sync.
Yes. ReMarkSync v0.4.0 automatically reads legacy v5 and current v6 page formats, including mixed-format notebooks. These are page-file formats, not tablet models or app versions. No format switch or manual conversion is needed. Remaining handwriting stays editable after legacy erasures, with backgrounds preserved. Damaged files, missing local downloads, PDF alignment limits, and OneNote delivery problems can still need attention.
ReMarkSync starts automatically after the official reMarkable desktop app has synced the latest changes to your computer. The timing depends on how quickly those changes reach the desktop app and how much content changed. You do not need to press a sync button.
ReMarkSync retains completed results and eligible queued or recovery work across interruptions. Temporary connection problems and Microsoft cooldowns can retry automatically when conditions allow. If OneNote’s result is uncertain, the app protects it from blind recreation; a restart does not clear that protection. Open Activity for the current status and the offered verification, retry, or recovery-copy action. Some interrupted checks need your attention again, and recovery is not guaranteed.
Deletion & safety
You choose one of three deletion modes in Settings. Archive, the default, moves the matching OneNote page to the Deleted from reMarkable area when possible. Delete removes the page from OneNote. Keep leaves the existing OneNote page in place. ReMarkSync records what happened for every mode.
ReMarkSync applies your selected deletion mode to the pages inside it. A reMarkable notebook becomes a OneNote section, while a folder becomes a section group. OneNote lets connected apps delete pages, but it does not currently let them delete sections or section groups. This limitation comes from Microsoft Graph, the service ReMarkSync uses to update OneNote. Because of this, an empty section or group may remain.
OneNote does not currently let connected apps rename or move sections and section groups. ReMarkSync creates the correct structure at the new name or location and relocates the synced pages there. The old empty section or group may remain, with a notice explaining what happened.
Open the ReMarkSync Status page inside your OneNote notebook. It records pages that were archived, kept, or removed, along with notebooks and folders that were renamed or moved. It also explains why an old OneNote section or section group may remain.
Pricing & billing
ReMarkSync Personal costs $4.99 per month. During the launch period, the annual plan is the Founding Member offer: $49 for the first year, then $59 per year while you stay subscribed. Both plans include the same current Personal features. The $49 annual price works out to under $1 per week during the first year. Prices shown do not include VAT or sales tax. If tax applies in your location, the exact amount will be shown at checkout.
Because keeping sync working is ongoing work, and running on your computer makes that work bigger, not smaller. ReMarkSync runs on your computer, so your notes never pass through our servers. That also means every fix must ship as a signed update that works on every Windows PC and Mac, instead of being fixed once on a server. ReMarkSync also connects products we don’t control: reMarkable, OneNote, Windows, and macOS each change on their own schedule. That is why we shipped 8 updates in the first two months after launch. They added work and school accounts, support for older reMarkable pages, and safer recovery when OneNote is slow. Your subscription pays for these fixes and for support from a real person. It also keeps us honest: we only earn your renewal if sync keeps working for you. And it pays for what’s next: Founding Members get OneNote two-way sync and reMarkable to Obsidian at no extra cost when they are released. If you cancel, everything already in OneNote stays yours. Only new syncing stops.
Download ReMarkSync and complete setup without choosing a plan or entering payment details. The trial starts only when you choose to begin it inside the app. You can use ReMarkSync Personal for seven days, and no credit card is required.
The launch period has no fixed end date. We will announce its end on this site at least 14 days before. If you are already a Founding Member, your price and benefits stay the same while you stay subscribed.
Anyone who starts the annual plan during our launch period is a Founding Member. Founding Members pay $49 for the first year and renew at $59 per year while their subscription remains active. The annual membership includes reMarkable to OneNote now, plus OneNote two-way sync and reMarkable to Obsidian when released, at no extra cost. The future integrations do not have a release date yet.
The annual plan renews at $59 per year, for as long as your subscription stays active. This applies to everyone who starts the annual plan at $49. Founding Member pricing and benefits end if the subscription is canceled.
Yes. You can cancel through the billing portal linked in your receipt email. Canceling stops future renewals, and your subscription remains active until the end of the period you already paid for.
Your first monthly payment can be refunded within seven days. Your first annual payment can be refunded within 30 days. Renewal payments are not automatically refundable, but you can contact support if something went wrong. Request a refund by emailing support@remarksync.com from the address used for your subscription.
Privacy & security
No. ReMarkSync processes your selected notes on your computer and sends them directly to your Microsoft account. ReMarkSync's servers manage account sign-in, trials, licenses, and subscriptions, but they never receive your handwriting, PDFs, document names, or other note content.
ReMarkSync stores your email address, trial and subscription status, and a generated identifier for each activated computer so it can apply the two-device limit. Your full payment card details are handled by Polar and are not stored by ReMarkSync.
The website uses limited, cookieless analytics to understand visits and basic interactions. Analytics in the desktop app is off by default and starts only if you enable it. It never includes note content, document names, your email address, Microsoft identifiers, or local file paths. You can turn it off at any time in Settings.
Support receives only the message and files you choose to send. Diagnostic logs stay on your computer unless you attach them to a support request. The logs are designed to leave out note content and local file paths.
